Hope everyone is feeling the holiday spirit! Apex 2015 is just around the corner, and SSF2 is officially making its third annual appearance!!

In case you aren’t familiar with Apex, it is one of the largest Smash Bros. tournaments in the world featuring all of the official Smash games. This upcoming year it will take place between January 30th and February 1st in Secaucus, New Jersey. They were kind enough to allow us to showcase SSF2 for our third year in a row, so we’ll be allowing attendees to play the upcoming update for SSF2. For those of you who can’t be there in person, be sure to tune in to our Twitch.tv channel where you’ll get to witness some of the excitement (and maybe a few surprises!) http://www.twitch.tv/mcleodgaming

Expect more information within the next few weeks, in the meantime here’s a little teaser:

SSF2 v0.9b has been updated to revision 1978!

This fixes a number of the last minute issues that came up after the previous patch, one of which is high latency mode which is now working. Please note that high latency mode matches may take longer to start than low latency ones, but it should now work fine for the majority of players. So if you find you have trouble with low latency matches, then give high latency a try!

Other major fixes include the assist trophy spawning, the old “loading screen stuck at 100%” bug, as well as the stock/time filters for online mode. Online mode stability overall has been improved a bit as well, so it should be easier to get matches going. A more detailed change list will be posted in the SSF2 section on the forums.

Have fun!

We have finally finished uploading the latest patch for v0.9b!

This patch (rev 1965) includes a number of improvements such as the return of pokeballs and assist trophies, balancing tweaks, new aesthetics, as well as online mode performance/usability updates. See additional details on the Games page.

(Please note that to continue playing online mode, you will need to be playing the latest version of the game!)

Also, players please be aware that high latency mode for online is still not completely functional due to a server-side issue. It is recommended that you continue to use low latency mode for now, we will resolve this as soon as we can.

Lastly, if there are any issues with loading % getting stuck try these instructions here: http://forums.mcleodgaming.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=39352&p=1328634#p1328634

MGN services are back online!

Thanks for the patience everyone! The server updates should improve SSF2’s online mode stability so that there are fewer connection drops throughout the day. We’ve come a long way since MGN’s initial release but we’re not quite there yet, so we’ll keep working to improve the service moving forward.
