Clarification on Expansion Content:
There seems to be a little bit of confusion about expansion content for the game. I want to make sure everyone is aware that the game will have what is considered official expansion content and unofficial expansion content. What the current expansion forums represent is “unofficial expansion content.”
“Unofficial” expansion characters anyone can work on, and they can share their sources files as they please. But this type of content will simply not be labeled “official”, since it has not gone through any balancing or validation from us. While you have complete freedom to do as you wish with these files, there will be some limitations placed on their capabilities.
“Expansion” characters come from files validated and approved by Devs. Much of this development may be kept hidden from public, but it’s not impossible that unofficial content that we like could be adapted into official content in the future. So don’t feel that all is lost just because we aren’t officially endorsing the expansion forums!
Help Get Yeah Jam Fury on Steam!
The popular PC gaming platform Steam has begun its new Greenlight service, in which the Steam community votes on games to be added to its online store. Willy World Entertainment and I are hoping to release Yeah Jam Fury with additional content to the store, but we need votes in order to do it. So please vote a thumbs up for us and help us land a chance at getting the game onto Steam!

Announcement:
Regrettably the time has come for me to announce MG’s disaffiliation with the Expansion Forums.
Link for reference: http://ssf2expansions.motionforum.net/
Those of you who are familiar with the Expansion forums are probably aware that it has been around for years, and has transformed quite a bit since its inception. However there is one thing that hasn’t changed, and that’s the fact that the expansion forums are not run by MG in any shape or form.
Therefore, I am announcing today that officially MG no longer endorses the SSF2 Expansion Forums.
Please note that this will not affect our plans for expansion content. MG will have its own system for managing and distributing DLC after the full release of the game. But until then I am not offering any support for unofficial expansion content. There currently are no standards set for spriting expansion material, so I don’t want to encourage it to the public before we have even set up a system for it, I hope you understand. It would be a shame to see a lot of wasted effort on sprites that don’t necessarily meet our standards.
Anyway, be sure to check by every so often since we’ll have more positive news to post soon.
A news update is long past due, so I want to make sure everyone is up to date on what’s been happening with the game. All summer we’ve been working our hardest to truly make v0.9 the most significant improvement yet. If you’ve been keeping up with our Facebook and Twitter, you may already be aware of some of the various changes coming to the game. Here are some highlights:
New Optimized Full Screen Mode
Many computers in the past have had issues scaling the game to full screen using Ctrl+F. In v0.9 we will be introducing hardware scaling for this method, which means that by sacrificing some visual quality the hardware is used to stretch the game screen. The result is much smoother gameplay, since it plays as if the window size was never changed! This will now be an optional feature suitable for those with slower computers that want to play in full screen.
Improved Collision Detection
Despite efforts to completely rid the game of collision issues for v0.8b, there were still a few small bugs here and there with platforms. In v0.9, all of these issues have been alleviated since the collision code is now under a new and more reliable system. Passing through walls and falling through platforms will no longer be a problem.
Online Mode A Good Possibility By Final Release
For those of you who missed it, awhile back we announced on our Facebook page that an Online Mode is indeed something we have been looking into for awhile now. There are many technical issues that come with such a mode, so we unfortunately cannot make any promises for v0.9. But we really hope to have success so that the mode can be a reality by the time of the full release of the game.
Quickly Gaining a Competitive Audience
The game has become a lot more popular this year since the release of v0.8b, and is even is getting noticed among competitive players in the Smash community such as Vex Kasrani and Mew2King. Take a look at the pros in action:
