Although there is more to do, as you can see things are running quite smoothly. More info to come! 🙂
We regret to inform you that we had to change our plans for the release of SSF2 v0.9b. Unfortunately we will be unable to release v0.9b this month like we expected. We know you are all excited to play online mode, but this type of thing is fairly new to us so we want to make sure we get it right. We’ve now reached a whopping 20,000 signups for the new MGN service, so in order to properly prepare for the demand we will be taking extra measures to make sure things are solid before releasing. If at all possible we would have released this month, but we don’t want to rush things and we simply need more time.
In order to get a release out as soon as possible, we have decided that we will initially release v0.9b with online mode disabled for a brief period of time. We will then start activating online accounts in “batches” some time after release to help get things running smoothly.
This means that you will be able to play the game and see online in the menu, but you will only be able to use the mode once your account has been activated by us. We are still working out how we would like to distribute account activation, so we will get back to you on that as soon as we make a final decision (Think of this like a beta!).
In the meantime, the SSF2 Dev Team will be giving you some sneak peaks at some of the new content not shown at Apex. We will be sure to announce a new target release timing by the end of the month. Sorry for the delay, and we really appreciate everyone’s patience so far, thanks!
I hope you all were able to catch last week’s SSF2 livestream at Apex! If not, you can watch Day 2 and 3 on the McLeodGaming Twitch channel, or you can wait for selective clips from all 3 days to be uploaded to the MG Youtube account.
I’d like to take this time to personally thank all of the devs who joined me at the event to help out, so shout out to Tid, ElvisDitto, Void, Xyless, TSON, Zero Insanity, Sirtopeia, Crabby, Froggy, Ya Dad, Drip, and a special thanks to everyone who played the game at the event! We definitely hope to return next year! 🙂
In case any of you missed the livestream, here is a quick summary of what info was revealed for v0.9b:

v0.9b Status:
And now what you’ve all been waiting for, information regarding the next installment of SSF2 nicknamed “v0.9b”. For starters, I’m excited to announce today that over 9000 people have already pre-registered for McLeodGaming Network accounts! (Yes, that’s over nine thousand…)

So many of you may be wondering “what is McLeodGaming Network?” Let me give you a brief overview:
McLeodGaming Network (or “MGN” for short) will be your ticket to play online multiplayer for games produced here at MG. The first game that will be utilizing MGN will be everyone’s favorite of course, SSF2! The infrastructure for the user system isn’t entirely completed yet, however I have plans to include features such as friends lists, messaging, stats-tracking, and more! You can expect it to make its debut once v0.9b is completed.
So where is v0.9b?
The SSF2 Dev team and I will be aiming for a release this March. There is still a decent amount of work that has to be done, especially with the high demand for MGN accounts to prepare for. So the team and I will be working hard on the game and MGN throughout the next month so that we can bring you guys the best experience possible. So have patience and it’ll be here before you know it! In the meantime, we’ll have other information to share with you guys to help ease the wait, so make sure you keep an eye on the MG front page as well as the MG Facebook and Twitter for more!
