For those of you wondering when the smash ball will return in SSF2, understand that we want to make sure everything works properly before we update. Right now we are aiming to update v0.9 with the smash ball and other minor fixes this upcoming Monday (Feb. 4th). The wait will only be a little while longer, please bear with us!

In other news, I’d like to announce that Evo 2013 (the largest fighting game tournament series in the world) is holding a competition to decide their eighth and final game in their lineup. Their current lineup is missing one thing, and that’s Super Smash Bros.! Evo is accepting donations for Breast Cancer research to decide what final game will be added to their lineup (whatever game gets the most donations wins).
Currently support Super Smash Bros. Melee is on the rise and stands a good chance at getting in, meaning it’s a big chance to boost the revival of the SSB competitive scene (and hopefully allowing more opportunities for SSF2 to gain attention for these sorts of events as with Apex 😉 ). In order for Melee to win, it has to receive more donations to than the other games being voted on. So if you are able to, please support SSBM and Breast Cancer Research!

(Only 2 days left so you’d better hurry!)

Several more issues have been taken care of, including the bug with the web browser version not loading. Some other notable changes are as follows:
-Improved preloading time of the game by shrinking the size of the new intro and only loading the old intro if selected in vault
-Event Match menu can now be fully controlled with the keyboard.
-You can now choose your player for Event Match 10 (to make it a bit more bearable)
-Fixed data importing error message
No smash ball just yet, but it’s coming soon.
I have uploaded an updated version of SSF2 v0.9 with some small changes. The most notable change is that the Mac version of the game is now functional. There have also been some balancing changes, bug fixes, and most OHKOs are fixed, however we will be continuing the balance work as the remaining bugs are taken care of.
Remember, to tell if your current version is up to date, check the bottom right of the title screen! For those of you downloaded the version that was released on Twitch, the number has a typo with an extra digit, so the latest version is indeed the one listed on the site.
(The smash ball has not been added yet, however I will announce it once it’s ready)
Now that the website is running a bit better I was able to get the web version of SSF2 v0.9 to work correctly. The site still may be a bit slow for now but the game should load fine.
Enjoy!
Attention, SSF2 v0.9 is now fully available!
We apologize for the delay, you can download or play it in your browser by visiting our Games page as usual.
Anyway, there are a couple things you should note about this update before you play:
Why Smash balls are forced off:
We apologize for this, however we did have some delays due to the behavior of some final smashes. Rather than delay the demo for extended period of time, we really wanted to let you guys play so we decided to continue the release with it temporarily disabled. We will definitely provide a patch to take care of this so don’t worry.
We have now implemented a new “version” text:
Below is a picture of the number shown at the bottom-right of the character select screen:

This numbers tells you your version of the game, and minor/emergency updates will increase only the last digits. For example, the equivalent of v0.9a and v0.9b would be v0.9.0 and v0.9.1. A minor update to v0.9b could be v0.9.1.284. We’ve done this to make it easier to tell between versions of the game. However, we will not be having updates all the way to v0.9.9, so you can expect digits to be skipped before we get to v1.0. For now, just know that we do plan on doing a couple of minor updates to v0.9 in order to address some of the things we picked up at Apex, and some slightly more significant updates may be done as well.
Users who downloaded the Twitch link may want to re-download:
We had force-disabled Clock Town temporarily during Apex and forgot to put it back, so we fixed this among other things.
Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who watched the Apex livestream!
It turned out to be a big hit at the event, and on the last day we were pushing up to 3K viewers on our Twitch at any given time. Not to mention having a couple hundred thousand total views over just a single weekend, so thank you everyone for your support!

Also, we are aware that the website is slow right now. We’re experiencing a lot of traffic due to high demand, so I will be working on the issue.
