Forums will be offline tomorrow morning.
(^That’s July 9th)

I should be able to get them back up by late afternoon that day. There’s quite a bit that needs to be backed up so please be patient during this time.

Ok, so I finally found a good new web host with a deal that’s 1,000 times better than what I currently have. So I will be beginning the server change this week.

Summary:

First I will be moving the home site. (This is the part of the site you are looking at now) You may not notice anything change, since I will move the files over before pointing the domain name to the new server. Once that is done I will let you know.

Next I will be moving the forums, which will take a few hours at best.
The forums will be unavailable during this time (I will announce before this happens)

I have not decided the exact day and time I will start the move, but I will begin as early as tomorrow if possible. The whole process could take a few days, but I will try to do it as smoothly as possible so there is as little downtime as possible.

For those of you who don’t understand:

Well put it this way, the website needs to be stored somewhere, right? All I am doing is moving the location of all the files on my site. I need to do this since there aren’t good enough file storage services out there that can take the massive amount of people downloading SSF2. Don’t worry, if everything goes well you’ll hardly even notice the switch 😉

Also note that the server I am moving to you can expect much faster download speeds and better performance overall!

I know there’s been a lack of News lately, but don’t worry, the next demo’s progress (v0.5b) is coming along pretty well. It’s tough to estimate when it will be done, but it should be soon. I need to get the gameplay as solid as possible before moving on to v0.6 so I’ve been making a lot of technical improvements and fixes. I will not give an exact date on when it will be done (So once again don’t ask me when) but it is indeed approaching completion so don’t worry, just trust me! 😉

The good thing is that after v0.5b is done, v0.6 will be another major step for SSF2, and be completed within a reasonable time frame. If I get it done right the first time perhaps we’ll go straight from v0.6 to v0.7! 🙂 I will give further detail on v0.6 after v0.5b is released

UPDATE:

Ok guys, so the situation has changed now. There will NOT be any immediate downtime, however sometime in the near future I will be very likely changing web hosts.

So for now you guys can just forget this just happened, I will make a less urgent announcement after I decide to move to a new server. It won’t be for at least another month for now most likely so no need to worry.

——————————

To ease the situation, I will be using the following sites to host my heavy files:

http://www.box.net/
http://www.megaswf.com/

(Decided not to go with MediaFire due to limitations)

I don’t mean to scare you guys, but with the massive spike in traffic due to the release of v0.5a I received a nasty bill in my Inbox, so I’m going to have to switch web hosts (again :sweatdrop: ). I will be bring the site back up AS SOON as I can, but please understand that I will need to set up things all over again. So please be patient, if everything goes well the site will be back up and running sometime this weekend.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone.
